Census microdata
Our open access Census microdata teaching files provide lecturers and students with an alternative source to the standard releases of Census Microdata to analyse and explore various social and economic trends.
They are based on a 1% sample of individuals from the complete Census Microdata. These data have been treated to protect the confidentiality of the respondents. They contain a small number of variables and are intended to be used for teaching purposes only. The topics focus on basic demographic and socioeconomic variables such as age, sex, educational attainment, occupation, economic activity, religion and general health. The geographic information in the open teaching Census Microdata is limited to region. They are available in different formats and are freely downloadable without registration.
